Verse 3 really touched me because I could feel Paul’s passion for his Jewish brothers and sisters. He was so convicted that if it were possible, he was willing to even give up his own salvation so that they would be able to obtain salvation. His caring just really touched me and made me want to have a heart like that for the people around me. To be so passionate about sharing salvation with them that I’d be willing to give up my own just so they can make it into heaven.
In verse 19 I like how Paul reminds us of our place to that of God’s. Sometimes we forget who the creator is and who we are. We think that God is there to make us happy when in fact we are there at the pleasure of God. We are His creation therefore He gets to do what He wants with us. (Oooh deep thought.) 🙂

    • Here is the verse you referenced:

“For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Thanks for sharing this verse Jonathon. As I read it, I am challenged by the level of passion that is exhibited by Paul in this context. A deep longing to reach his own people group. Now, he uses an impossible example to illustrate his point, but it has already been made clear that Paul has been willing to go to extreme lengths and take many possible actions to reach people. Very inspirational.
