This chapter is so rich that it was hard to select some verses but I finally came down to verses 3-5 & 8. When I have gone through hard times or I’m coming up against hard times, versus 3-5 remind me that I am not going through this for nothing. God is using my current situation to grow me and mature my faith. Like an athlete, my faith is getting toned and building muscles. I also like verse 8 because it tells of the love that God has for me and every other sinner on this planet. God didn’t wait for us to move toward Him, no He moved to us. What a love story. What an awesome God!!

    • “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

Connecting suffering to hope is an incredible truth that God reveals in this passage. Quite the opposite would seem true from my natural perspective. However, God is transforming our thinking here, to align it according to spiritual values. Hope is shown as a higher value than comfort, thus suffering my comfort is a good trade to build hope in Jesus.
