so glad Jesus is near us everyday! I believe with my whole heart that it is by grace that i am saved!

    • Awesome Bridgette! Thanks for sharing your heart and enthusiasm for this passage. May God use you in incredible ways to share the message of hope in Jesus.

I find people and I do mean Christians and churches tend to complicate this whole thing about Christianity. Paul makes it so plain and simple in verse 9 of what you must do. I believe though after you confess and believe in your heart is when the devil tries to come and steal away your faith. This is when discipleship is so important with new believers to help them to stay on the straight and narrow path. I feel that churches tend to love to make new converts but fail to disciple them. Your thoughts…

    • Here is the verse:

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Personally, I have used this verse countless times to share Christ with others. I would recommend sharing it in the context of the passage, as well as in partnership with other verses from the Book of Romans explaining the condition of man and the salvation offered by God. That being said, let’s examine what the verse identifies:

      1. Confessing verbally that “Jesus is Lord”

      2. Believing by faith that “God raised [Jesus] from the dead”

These two elements are the stumbling block for many.

Often people don’t want to submit to the authority of another entity, namely God in this situation. This address the first element.

Also, the thought of their being life after death, without a personal experience of proof, often is too much for people to accept. This the second element requires faith.

However, when Jesus is acknowledged as God, and faith is present for a new resurrected life in Christ, there is the promise of salvation.

Pretty amazing verse. Thanks for sharing it!
